I can not understand nor get the answers to these questions. The course ends in four days(friday).?

1) A physical science teacher demonstrates energy conservation by releasing a heavy pendulum bob, as shown in the sketch, allowing it to swing to-and-fro. What would happen if in his exuberance he gave the bob a slight shove as it left
2)On a slide a child has potential energy that decreases by 1000 J while her kinetic energy increases by 900 J. What other form of energy is involved, and how much?

1) (If he does it like my physics teacher used to and released it right at his nose then he is going to get hit when it comes back because he added some energy to the system.) The Pendulum will swing higher then it’s initial release point and his experiment would not adequately show conservation of energy because it would appear to the students that the pendulum gained energy from nowhere. In reality the pendulum received an extra dose of Kinetic Energy when it was released.

2. In a system Energy is never created or destroyed merely changes form. If the Child loses 1000 J of PE (Potential Energy) and only gains 900 of KE (Kinetic Energy) then 100 J went somewhere else. Since we live in a world where Friction plays a factor more often then not this is probably where the energy went.
