Playground Equipment Early Years
My 2 and a half year old isn’t talking much.?
He turned 2 in January. He is the only child and isn’t around other children hardly ever. He says things like mama, dada, Hello, Bye, and today he said love you. He was always early on his other skills like walking which he did at 9 months and he can climb and play all the equipment at the playground. I have tried flash cards pointing and naming, games, and we read and stuff with his leappad. He just isn’t talking he does babble baby talk all day. Anyone have any ideas about why. I am taking him to the doctor next month. His daddy is overseas but I don’t think that would affect him with his talking.
Well sometimes lack of social exposure will delay the language skills. Not being around other kids his own age, he has no one to communicate with in the way he communicates to you. Also being an only child sometimes we as adults will tend to answer for the kids. (Not saying you do, but I have seen it before). We may not realize that we tend to speak for the children when others talk to them, not giving the child a chance to answer for themself. Every child will talk as they are ready to. They all do in their own time. If you think it is an issue you can always have him evaluated. Normally a school district will do it for you, or go to your states web site and look for the info.
