Plastic Swing Sets: Durable, Lighter And Fun
Playtime is an important part of every child’s development. The surgeon general suggests at least 30 minutes to an hour of exercise every single day to maintain a healthy body and well being (this goes for adults as well). It promotes a healthy circulation, peaceful sleep, and an alert mind. Play can also be an avenue for bonding between parents and their child.
Playgrounds can be an important part of a child’s physical routine, giving them an outlet for their energy. More and more plastic swing sets are becoming a mainstay in these areas because they give many benefits. One such bonus is the fact that they weigh lighter than other sets made of wood, thus making them easier to transport. Another benefit is that they can be easily maintained, cleaned, have smoother edges and corners, and do not rust. Because they are lighter than their wood counterparts, it’s important to note how secure they are to their foundation to make up for this loss in weight.
Plastic swing sets can be an optimal solution in other ways because they are difficult to stain and are less likely to require assembly. But if they do, it’s usually a matter of sliding and locking something into place instead of needing equipment to screw in bolts and such.
Parents are recommended to place such sets near a shaded area, if possible, as the surfaces can burn children’s skin if exposed to the sun for any period of time. And even though these sets withstand the elements better than wood or metal sets, they are still not 100 percent immune to damage. They may not require repainting, but they do fade and can eventually wear out or fracture in areas that receive a lot of play by children, like slides for example, so frequent inspection is highly recommended.
