how do you tune drum skins (drum heads)?
hey i just wanted to know if anyone can explain how to tune drum skins. I just purchased new skins remo pinstripes and they sound horrible. I don’t have a drum pressure gauge and I tried doing it the way of using 2 drum keys and tightening 2 screws opposite to each other.
the set i have is a tama swing star
need help i just can’t find that sweet sound! would like drums to sound like mike portnoy’s set or Lars Ulrich’s drum set.
also does anyone know where i can buy a used or where to get a cheap cobra clutch or where to get 2 cobra coils, and a new entire spring Assembly
tuning really just takes time. its takes awhile to learn how the drums react to different tuning. you really cant be told how to tune it, you just gotta play around with it. it sounds like you already know basically what youre doing. one thing you could try is tightening/loosening the resonant head, play around with those settings a bit.
