Naturally my backyard rid of green ants and ants in the flesh?
I have a really bad problem with meat ants and green ants in backyard. This is a very big yard and our main problem is with the ants is up near the house where children's swings and trampoline. I can not use poisons cause one of my children hives from those things and do not wish too that our sick dog. Is there anything natural that can be used to deter This patio area or encourage them to move too much down the back of the yard?
Try using baits of boric acid as the active ingredient. The bait will make its way back to the colony and do more than spot treatments. Boric acid only becomes toxic to dogs / kids if they eat a lot of it. The amount in a few baits do nothing if eaten. Green ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) nests in shrubs and trees, so you can destroy the nest by cutting down and drowning / burning. Cocoons seem large, leaves.The meat ants (Iridomyrmex purpureus) nest on the ground and may kill the nests by pouring a pot of boiling water at the entrance. Another option – with meat ants and green ants, I suppose you live in Australia. If well, then the green ants make a tasty meal. Twist with the butt of green ants and pop in your mouth. The bitter taste like candy.
