Swing Sets For Kids Plans
How many parents have set up a pre-paid college fund?
Just curious. I work with college age kids and see how much college costs now. It has more than doubled since I graduated from college in 1995. I have a VPEP for my son for 2 yrs of community college as that was in the budget now. But trying to get the 4 college plan was more than I could afford with my own student loan to pay off. I also have a savings account for him for college realted costs. Anyone else doing this for thier toddlers? I wish I could do the 4 yr plan for him but frankly I just can’t swing that much extra money ($100 a month vs $500+a month for the next 5 years). If you aren’t saving for college yet do you wonder how you’ll pay for college?
We have a 529 plan for our kids (just one account for both, beneficiary can be switched when needed). While they’re young its set up to be very aggressive (stock heavy) and becomes more conservative the closer they are to college. So far we’ve had excellent return (about 12%).
